🦋 The Hideous Swim Society welcome you to their annual Birthday IM event!
Starting in 2021 at 800m, this event increases by 100m per stroke each year. This year the distance is 2,000m total, and we’ve introduced a relay option for the first time! Even better, participants can take home a Hideous IM swimming hat!
As ever, this event is swum under Hideous Rules.
The Swim
- The strokes must be completed in IM order (500m each of butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and front crawl).
- For relays, the two swimmers can split the swim as they wish but should not swim simultaneously (e.g. 2 strokes each, or alternating 100s).
- Fins are allowed.
When and where and how?
- To attend in person, you will need to be at the La Santa resort, Lanzarote on Saturday 18th May 2024
- The swim will take place in the South pool
- Swimmers may start whenever they are ready between 11:00-11:30
- Please book via the Club La Santa app
- Alternatively you can complete the event virtually, and tag us on Instagram at @hideous_swims_society to show us how it went!
Hideous Rules
- Each length must be started and finished with at least one full, correct stroke – the rest of the length is up to you (ask us for suggestions if you’d like some drill ideas).
- This is a fun event, and personal challenge. All swimmers are supported in their version of the event.
- We trust you to be honest, and swim the whole swim.
